August 8-10, 2019, the final of the 12th National College Students' Social Practice and Science Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction hosted by Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education was successfully held in North China University of Science and Technology. In this competition, our innovation team has continued the outstanding performances in previous competitions, we have won one first prize and five third prizes. At the same time, our school won the excellent organization award due to the quality of the entries and excellent performance of the teams.
The Competition is the only discipline competition of college students mainly held by the office of the Department of Higher Education. It is one of the top ten discipline competitions for college students determined by the ministry of education. The competition is closely related to the national energy and environmental policies, combined with the major national needs, fully reflects the theme of ‘‘energy conservation, emission reduction, green energy’’, and it is a guiding, exemplary and mass participated national college student competition. Since the start of the current competition, a total of 393 colleges and universities have registered with 4,102 entries. Only 199 works entered the final competition through the expert internet review and organization review.
The work ‘‘Dedusting electric blackboard eraser’’, which was completed by seven students supervised by Prof. Yang Mo and Dr. Lou Qin from our School performed well in the defense and won the first prize. With outstanding performance, the students o showed their elegant demeanor of USST.
For a long time, our School has been actively promoting the training of scientific and technological innovation abilities of students and organizing the participation in the competition. In order to work well on the selection, under the sponsorship of Shanghai Holman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Service co., LTD., our School has organized the on-campus selection competition. Through the advance publicity, organization and encouraging, the collection of works by the whole USST, the selection of excellent works, the guidance of preview of the works, etc., 15 selected on-campus award-winning works were selected to participate in the competition. The outstanding achievements of our School not only fully approved the students’ abilities of science and technology innovation and engineering practice, but also accumulated valuable experience to explore innovative engineering and scientific talent cultivation model.
This year, the successfully competition was supported by the alumni liaison office, work department of graduate students, student affairs office and dean's office. The 13th National College Students’ Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction will be held by Chongqing University, and it is expected that the students from our USST will reach new heights next year.
